Non-player Characters (NPCs)

Beta 4 introduced non-player characters into the game. The first NPC was the Serf. Here are all of the NPC character pictures and functions.

Note: I only have access to the NPC list up to Viscount. If someone Count or higher is willing to help me put together a full list please message me. I need the image links in the "Hire Freemen" page. Also, if you see a Freemen type that I haven't got full detail for yet message me with their lordid and I will update their slogan and description.

Note that all of the NPCs count in your vassal count and to some degree in your Power. They influence Power less than real vassals - they seem to contribute about one third of their amount to your power.

The first NPCs introduced were free and available to all players. Apparently, you can release them (as of July 27, 2008, you can view their Lord page and they have a "Release" button). However, since they count minimally in your Power there doesn't seem to be any reason to. They can staff buildings (including defense) but can't be stolen, sold or used in attacks. Their main purpose is to help new players start building.

Serf (Power 5)

"As you wish my lord"

Everyone gets 2 (one male and one female). Inactive players seem to only get them when they do something or maybe when something is done to them.

The (male) serf is the backbone of medieval society. The serfs build and pay homage to their liege in exchange for safety and security. A (female) serf is a classic worker, dirty, dressed in a shift and holding an old shovel.

Steward (Power 15)

"Yes my lord, as you say my lord"

You get one if you verify your e-mail address.

The steward is a lesser coordinator, getting serfs in line under direction of a Major Domo.

Freemen

The "Freemen" are available for purchase with Credits (i.e. real money LOL). Their level corresponds to the rank (title) that is eligible to hire them. A Knight is level 1, etc.

Cost is for a 2 week term of service. The costs noted below are the costs that each freeman was introduced at. Current costs are based on market demand and can be found on the market page Hire Freemen. In most respects they are like real vassals.
